HEM is a study in balance - blending the enduring character of neighbourhood's industrial past with the refinement of contemporary design. The building's form is a deliberate nod to the austere simplicity and functionality of early warehouse structures, reinterpreted through a modern lens. Materiality plays a key role in shaping the building's expression. Deep grey tones of vertical siding weave across the façade, establishing a subtle, undulating rhythm. In contrast, crisp white tones define the courtyard and ground-floor public space, infusing these areas with lightness. This interplay of tones softens the rigid form, introduces depth, and creates a refined backdrop for key architectural elements.
